Privacy Policy · Effective October 14, 2026

Your budget should stay yours.

This Privacy Policy explains how RVASimpleBudget (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the RVA SimpleBudget website and budgeting service.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to provide the service:

  • Account information: your name, email address, authentication credentials, and account settings.
  • Budget information: the income, expenses, transaction descriptions, categories, monthly allocations, savings targets, and other details you choose to enter.
  • Subscription information: your plan, billing status, payment identifiers, and related transaction records. Payment card details are collected and handled by our payment provider, not stored in the RVA SimpleBudget database.
  • Technical and usage information: basic browser, device, request, error, and security information generated when the service is used. Floot’s built-in analytics operates in memory only, so its session identifier is not stored on your device and resets when you reload or open a new tab.
  • Support communications: information you include when you contact us.

RVA SimpleBudget does not connect to your bank or automatically import bank transactions. We receive financial details only when you choose to enter them.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; store, calculate, and display budgets; synchronize data across devices; process and manage subscriptions; provide customer support; diagnose errors; prevent fraud and abuse; maintain and improve the service; comply with law; and enforce our Terms of Use. We do not use budget transaction details for cross-site advertising.

When we share information

We disclose information only as reasonably necessary:

  • Service providers. Floot provides hosting, cloud database, authentication, email, and operational infrastructure. Stripe, through Floot Payments, processes subscription payments. These providers handle information on our behalf under their own contractual, security, and privacy obligations.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or abuse, or defend legal rights.
  • Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and applicable law.

We do not sell personal information. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention

We retain account and budget information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, active account and budget data is scheduled for removal. Limited information may remain temporarily in backups or be retained when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, security, accounting, payment disputes, legal compliance, or establishing or defending legal claims. We retain support communications and operational logs only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated sessions, access controls, encrypted network connections, restricted production access, and service monitoring. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

Your choices and rights

You can review and update information within the service, download a machine-readable export of your budget, manage or cancel a subscription through the billing portal, and permanently delete your account from account settings. You may also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights, including the right to appeal a denied privacy request. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children and U.S. processing

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Information is processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or applicable law changes. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
